Volume Booster + EQ is built to do one job — boost and shape audio on the pages you visit — and to collect nothing beyond what that job requires.
What the extension stores
Your boost level and EQ settings (bass/mid/treble values), saved per website so they can auto-apply on your next visit. Premium only.
Any custom presets you name and save, so you can reuse that exact mix on any site later — not just the one you saved it on. The name you give it and its EQ values are stored the same way, locally. Premium only.
Your license key and the email tied to your purchase, if you unlock Premium, used only to confirm your purchase with Gumroad.
All of this is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage API. We do not run our own servers and we do not receive, log, or have access to any of it.
What the extension does not do
It does not read, record, upload, or listen to your audio content.
It does not track the pages you visit, your browsing history, or your activity on any site.
It does not use analytics, trackers, or advertising SDKs of any kind.
It does not sell or share data with third parties for advertising.
The one external request we make
When you enter a license key to unlock Premium, the extension sends that key to Gumroad's license-verification API (api.gumroad.com) to confirm it's a valid, unrefunded purchase. That request is the only network call the extension makes, and it only happens when you actively try to activate or Chrome periodically re-checks that an already-active license is still valid. Permissions we ask for, and why
storage — to save your boost, EQ, and preset settings on your device.
alarms — to periodically re-check an active Premium license in the background.
Access to web pages — required so the extension can find audio/video on the page and route it through the volume/EQ controls. We don't read page content beyond locating media elements.
api.gumroad.com — the only external address the extension can contact, used solely for license verification.
Your data, your control
Uninstalling the extension deletes everything it has stored. You can also clear your saved per-site mix or delete individual custom presets at any time from the extension's popup.
